Starting on the First Floor - September 17, 2012

The first floor is in progress! The weather has been beautiful so things are moving right along.

What is a "compass rose?"

A compass rose is a symbol used on maps and for navigation that shows the main points of a compass - north, south, east & west. The term "rose" comes from the figure's compass points resembling the petals of the flower.

Originally, this symbol was used to indicate the directions of the winds. It has been used on sailing ships and nautical maps since the 1300's.

We decided to call our cottage "Compass Rose" because we loved the nautical theme for the beach and our address is on Compass Street!
